One day in the spring of ’08 I decided to build my two boys something awesome in the backyard. As I thought of what to do for the boys, 2 & 4 years old, I came across a little plastic toy pirate ship in their bedroom that had been one of their favorites and knew then that was my goal. Putting to good use a pile of lumber salvaged from a construction job, the ship began to take shape and within a few days started to rise up within a cluster of back yard trees. With my background in construction and carpentry, I added a creative eye as I cut, shaved, measured, and created until, after almost two months, the finished product was ready for the kids … and I called it a Pirate Play Ship. At that point it was a no-brainer that I needed to develop this and turn it into something that I could offer for others.
That’s how Pirate Play Ships was born and since July of ’08 we’ve built custom play structures in most U.S. states and have even traveled to Monterrey, Mexico, Canada, and the West Indies island of Antigua. The focus for Pirate Play Ships is on the kids and we love to be personally involved in the process with each family or organization. We have worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation many times and felt honored to have built something that a little boy or girl will now enjoy throughout the battles that lie ahead. We’re proud of our loyal following and strive on each project to offer a well-built, handcrafted product that is as stylish as it is rigid. We look forward to being a part of the Pirate Dream for many more kids and families all over the country and beyond!
